Rookie Awards

The Rookie Lifeguard programme introduces the basic skills of lifesaving, life support and water safety skills to children learning to swim in a fun filled package.  The awards are aimed at children although the skills learned are valuable to people of all ages.

rookie-samThe scheme begins with Stage 1 of the Bronze Award and progresses to Stage 3 of the Gold Award, starting at an ability level suitable for new swimmers and progressing to a level where our Rookie Lifeguards can perform impressive lifesaving tows.

The Rookie Lifeguard scheme can take place in a club environment, leisure centres, swim schools and as part of swimming lessons.  The awards are also part of the ASA Learn to Swim Pathway and the Water Safety Award meets the elements of the water safety elements of the National Curriculum at Key Stage Two.  There are no pre-requisites for these awards.
